This is the standard-issue Starfleet communicator badge. Each cadet is issued a badge upon entrance into Starfleet Academy. Civilians may request a communicator badge under the approval of Starfleet Command.

1. Admiral's Duty Uniform: -- Worn at all times while a flag officer is on duty.

2. Duty Uniform: -- Standard issue Starfleet uniform. Must be worn at all times while on duty. Uniform must be sized accordingly, and should have corresponding department color, as well as the officer's rank and communicator badge. (The colored shoulder trimming is only used in the Ryalli Sector.)

3. Off-duty Vest: -- Optional Starfleet uniform that can be worn while off duty. If worn off duty, it must conform to regulations of corresponding department color as well as the officer's rank and communicator badge. The vest does have a small inside pocket.

4. Off-duty Undershirt: -- Required department undershirt to be worn under the duty jacket. When worn off duty, it must still conform to the regulations of corresponding color as well as the officer's rank and communicator badge. Fastens near the collar, but is worn like a polo shirt.

5. Cadet Uniform: -- Standard issue uniform for all Starfleet cadets. Must be worn during all official Academy and student functions. If a cadet is performing field training on a starship, starbase, or planet, uniform must also be worn. Communicator must be worn at all times.

6. Starfleet Issue Formal Uniform: -- Standard issue dress uniform worn by Starfleet personnel involved in formal diplomatic or social functions. The uniform style should be appropriate to officer rank and station, and have corresponding department color trim, as well as the officer's rank and communicator. In addition, any awards or ribbons may be worn if so desired.

7. Starfleet Pilot's Uniform: -- Standard uniform issued to Starfleet fighter pilots. Worn by pilots that regularly operate small Starfleet military air/space vehicles. Helmet is standard operational wear.

8. Field/ Training Uniform: -- Uniform used by Starfleet personnel during strenuous field missions, certain training activities, and other appropriate mission specifications. Rank and communication should be present at all times, and trim should be reflective of department affiliation.

9. Marine Uniform: -- Worn by all personnel in the Starfleet Marines.

10. Standard Lab Coat: -- Optional lab coat worn by some medical and science personnel.

11. Field Jacket: -- Uniform field jacket worn by Starfleet personnel when sent to colder locations or on field assignments that require pockets. Generally worn over the standard duty uniform. Color trim should be appropriate to department. Jacket has 3-4 standard pockets for tools, etc.

12. Starfleet Chaplain's Uniform: -- Starfleet regulation uniform worn by the clergy within the service of Starfleet. Chaplains and priests carry a non-commissioned rank. An optional collar medal can be worn to signify or differentiate the religion or religious affiliation.

13. Starfleet-issue Underwear: -- Generally worn under the appropriate duty uniform.

14. Starfleet-issue Civilian Options: -- Standard clothing for away missions in hot or arid environments, especially in conditions of blowing sand, or intense sunlight.

15. Environmental Suit: -- Standard-issue Starfleet isolation gear to allow crew to venture into areas of space or other uninhabitable zones. An older suit variant, but nonetheless effective.



Admiral's Duty Uniform: variants

The Admiral may, at his or her discretion, wear either uniform variant so long as he/she displays their correct rank and wear their communicator badge. The uniform belt buckle is imprinted with either the Starfleet command insignia, or the appropriate departmental command logo.

Duty Uniform: department types

Both officers and enlisted crew wear this same uniform. Shoulder trim denotes department.

Off-duty Vest: (optional)

The vest is usually worn with the appropriate colored uniform undershirt, as shown in the first image below. It can, however, also be worn without, as shown in the second image.

Starfleet Issue Formal Uniform: officer variants

Only commanding officers wear a white undershirt. Line officers wear blue. Non-commissioned crew wear grey jackets, and flag officers wear red button-over frocks. Marines wear the traditional red-sash uniform, and officers wear a sword, while non-commissioned marines do not.

Men generally prefer the underwear variant as pictured below, however a short-sleeved t-shirt option is also available. Similarly, women tend to prefer the tank-top depicted, however, at least one Starfleet-issue bra option is also available to those that prefer.

Starfleet-issue Civilian Options - variants
-
These are some of the most common (and fashionable) Starfleet-issue civilian outfits available to personnel when off-duty and out of uniform. With the exception of the third jacket image, the other three outfits are available in a wide variety of colors and textile designs. Women also have a variety of dress and skirt options to choose from. All Starfleet personnel must wear their communicators.
