An away team led by Commander Wilson and containing Lieutenant Andrews, Ensign Evanstone, J'San, Dr. Dithers, Counselor Scott and others are sent down to investigate the complete disappearance of the science team. What they find is an empty station filled with unfinished dinners and dropped coffee cups nearby majestic ruins of a Romanesque civilization. Suddenly, the team encounters a strange time-space distortion that sends them hurtling 2400 years back in time to before the Federation even existed. They are separated, and several are even captured by the imperial authorities of that barbaric past. Others in the away team are far more lucky, finding the missing archeologists hiding out in the city. From there they begin a desperate search to find their lost comrades. Meanwhile, Captain Billings and Commander Baker on the Terra Nova desperately try to discover what just happened. To their horror, they find that it was a member of the science team itself that caused the destruction of the Tempus civilization by changing its natural evolution. The away team has made a bad situation worse by accidentally following them back in time. As this happens, Garrett Andrews and Matt Evanstone, trapped in the past, are forced to fight in gladiator style battles in an arena filled with thousands of screaming spectators. Garrett, though fighting valiantly, is killed by a gladiator wielding a broadsword.... With time not on their side, Commander Baker concocts a desperate plan to build and send a holocloaked probe through the rift to contact the away team and transport them back through the rift and out of the past. It's a daring and dangerous plan. With telemetry from the probe, and what was left of the crew located, they just barely manage to reclaim the missing station scientists and Terra Nova away team through the rift and... Time begins again. =/\= This episode's archives start here, and end here. ____________________________________________________ Episode 003 "A NEW BRANCH GROWING" (December, 2377) The USS Terra Nova, newly commissioned, and straight out of Earth drydock, receives her crew and heads towards unknown space, and Tempus IV, to rendezvous with the Nebula class USS Lincoln where crew will transfer aboard. They arrive after a 4 week trip, and the crew is given a few days leave among the thriving civilization of the Tempi. Some of the crew, including Lieutenant Andrews go into comas upon reaching Tempus, the reasons completely unknown. They wake after a few days, none the worse for wear, their conditions a complete mystery. Unbeknownst to all, however, they are simply the result of aftershocks in time. Meanwhile, on the planet, a strange artifact, dating over 2400 years of age, is discovered. It perplexes Federation and Tempi scientists alike, particularly as it bears Federation markings and writing that identifies it as originating from the USS Terra Nova. The Terra Nova has no records to explain this finding, and it remains a mystery. While accepting crew transfers, Dr. Dithers, Commander Lok, and Counselor Scott leave the Terra Nova Crew and transfer to their permanent positions on the Lincoln and Tempus. Tragically, Commander Baker is killed by a mobster while on shore leave on the planet and becomes the Terra Nova's first fatal casualty. Their replacements transfer in from the Lincoln. Lt. Commander Mulenga Banda serves as the new Chief Engineer. Lt. Micheal Rynax transfers over to fill in as the ship's new Tactical and second officer. Lt. Tia Elliard serves as Chief Ops Officer. Lt. Hadt Ethain, a joined Trill, serves as the new Chief Medical Officer. Ensign Tonlysse, a Hermat, serves as a science officer. Despite the tragedy, the crew settles in, and on the eve of the ship's first official mission in the Ryalli sector, the ship's cook, Sam Jacobi, throws a party for the crew in the mess hall. Crewmates mingle and meet... and think little of the possible dark days ahead. =/\= This episode's archives start here (incuding character introductions), and end here. ____________________________________________________ Episode 004 "THE RYALLI" (December, 2377) The USS Terra Nova now embarks on its first official mission, the exploration of a beautiful nebula known as the Ryalli Expanse. Upon nearing the Expanse, the Terra Nova receives a frantic distress call from an alien species, begging for help. The ship changes course and arrives at the Expanse only to find a vast debris field around the distressed ship. The Terra Nova enters the expanse to render aid. Transporters fluctuate and a decision is made to do the rescue by shuttle. Commander Wilson and others, including Lt. Rynax Lt. Darnell and Dr. Ethain head to the shuttle bay to board a shuttlecraft to fly over to the distressed ship. Meanwhile, odd things begin to happen, systems begin to fail, and power consumption rates go up. Ensign Harcolm is run ragged trying to fix failures, including one that causes acid to eat through Crewman Evanstone's boot. Lt. Commander Banda advises Captain Billings that the nebula may be the reason for the failures and the debris field. Captain Billings chooses to leave the Nebula and directs the ship to exit, but they crash into an invisible barrier of bio-energy and the ship comes to an abrupt stop. At the same time the Terra Nova shudders to a stop, strange visions begin to appear across the ship. It becomes clear after a few long minutes as communications and computer systems go down, that the visions are very real. Tim Harcolm falls into a coma while attempting to do repair work, his mind flying through surreal images that make little sense, oblivious to the chaos befalling his shipmates. As crew across the ship are attacked by Jemh'adar, fantastical snake creatures, zombies and Romulans, the command crew desperately tries to sort out what is going on and rescue the ship. In the shuttle bay, the away team is attacked by Borg manifestations and takes refuge in the shuttle. Lt. Rynax saves the team by unlocking the grav plating, but is infected by Borg nanoprobes. In a bid to save his life, Dr. Ethain uses the shuttle's emergency transporter to take him to sickbay and attempts to save him with an experimental anti-nanoprobe treatment. Elsewhere, Commander Banda and Lt. Manning begin a trek down through jeffries tubes to reach the computer core and hopefully take manual control of the ship and get communications up. They meet up with other crewmembers who have taken refuge from Jem'Hadar in a cargo bay. The group includes crewman Parn, who is wearing a fantastical mechanical suit created by the Ryalli manifestations. On the bridge, Captain Billings frantically tries to figure out what is going on... Meanwhile, events occur on another Federation ship, not so far away. =/\= This episode's archives start here, and end here. ____________________________________________________ Episode 005 "THE THUNDERBIRD" (December, 2377) A new ship appears on the scene, the USS Thunderbird. Sent in late January 2378, to find the missing Terra Nova, she entered the Expanse and found herself trapped for two weeks. But there seems to be time travel involved, because the Thunderbird is from the future, and it is only late December 2377. The key players on the Thunderbird are: Lt. Commander James Greer, Acting Captain Lt. Alessandro Markov, Acting Chief of Security Lt. Timothy Kursk, Acting Chief Helm Officer Ensign Jennifer Micheals, Science Officer The Thunderbird's crew has been in the Nebula for two weeks, as slowly, her crew was whittled away by manifestations far less organized than those on the Terra Nova, but no less dangerous. She has suffered system failures as bad as the Terra Nova's, surviving only by the sheer willpower and work of her crew. Now commanded by Lt. Commander Greer, the highest ranking officer still remaining alive, they desperately try to survive and escape if they can. Their prayers are answered, it seems, when they spot another Federation ship and try to communicate with it using a laser. The attempt has some success. Unfortunately at the same time, amidst concerns of sabotage of the ship's self-destruct system, a fully loaded jet airplane from Earth's 20th century appears in the shuttle bay, presumably another manifestation, and carrying a nuclear payload. Using one of the ship's few remaining weapon's experts, the Thunderbird's crew attempts to disarm the nukes before they could go critical. But, something goes wrong, and they are forced to eject the plane and the nuke before it explodes. Meanwhile, on the Terra Nova, Lt. Elliard stumbles through the corridors trying to find anyone other than Jem'hadar. Lt. Andrews meets the Jem'hadar for the first time and consequently is captured and thrown into the ship's brig. Captain Billings first receives the laser message that informs him that there is another Federation ship out there. Dr. Ethain finds the remains of a crewmember and decides to seek the bridge to find out what is going on. In the cargo bay, the crew members arm and concoct a plan to fight the Jem'hadar to get to critical systems. Joe Parn, in the combat suit, makes his way toward the shuttle bay, their best hope of defeating the Borg. The others tentatively move across the deck, meeting no resistance in the process. The members of the away team manage to escape the shuttle bay without being assimilated. Unfortunately, Commander Lucinda Wilson is shot by Jem'hadar and killed. Lt. Darnell leads the remainder of the team towards the bridge. Joe Parn enters the shuttle bay shortly after and through explosive decompression, ejects the Borg and the now half assimilated shuttle. A strange copper pod enters the shuttle bay shortly after, perhaps the aliens the Terra Nova had originally come to save. In sickbay, Lt. Rynax, despite the best efforts of the medical team and anti nanoprobe treatments, dies after a fit of convulsions. Dr. Ethain has his body put into stasis. In computer control, Commander Banda and Chief Barstow try to regain computer control, only to find that the EMH is now acting as the computer's logic center. Through some effort, while others try to repair systems, the EMH regains partial control of the ship, just as the nuclear explosion goes off a small distance from the Thunderbird. Both ships are thrown free of the Ryalli Expanse by the shockwave from the nuclear explosion, the Thunderbird narrowing missing a collision with the Terra Nova. =/\= This episode's archive starts here, and ends here (roughly). ____________________________________________________ >> Continue to next five episode synopsi >> |
