Race" AFFILIATIONS: Unknown WARP CAPABLE: Yes HOME PLANET: Unknown POPULATION: Unknown FIRST CONTACT: 2378 (informal) |
| HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: The actual name of this race is unknown. For the purposes of clarity, they shall henceforth be known as "The Mimic Race" until the actual name is identified. The mimic race was first discovered in April 2378 by a Klingon refugee named Kurak on Liberty Station in the Ryalli Sector. Kurak discovered the unusual nature of a Mimic Race operative and confronted him. The operative attacked Kurak and hand to hand combat ensued. According to Kurak's report, the operative experienced a technical failure of the holomasking technology he was using and fled into the lower decks of Liberty Station. Finding themselves now exposed, the Mimics abandoned Liberty Station in a cloaked ship. Data on the cloaked ship was provided by Yetanni sensor control. After Kurak reported this incident, an investigation was launched. There are known to have been at least five Mimic operatives working on or around Liberty Station, disguised as civilians and/or Starfleet personnel. The reasons for their intelligence gathering is unknown, as they appeared to be more interested in gathering social data rather than technical or security information.. RACIAL DESCRIPTION: Very little is known about this race. It is uncertain of what they look like, or anything about their biology, except that they have green blood. CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS: The mimics appear to be extremely adaptable and able to convincingly assimilate themselves into foreign cultures. They appear willing to engage in covert intelligence gathering, though their focus on social, rather than technical information is unusual. Very little else is known about their culture. GOVERNMENT: Nothing is currently known about Mimic government or social structure. There is speculation that they might actually be Qu-rog or Caepaens, but to date, these hypothesis are unprovable. TECHNOLOGY: Mimic technology is known to be quite advanced. The Mimic Race operatives were able to pass themselves as Humans for several months with no suspicions from the people they worked and lived with. This suggests advanced holographic technology. That they were not identified as unusual by Yetanni suggests that the technology masks scent as well as appearance. They also possess cloaking technology that appears to be somewhat inferior to that of the Romulans and Klingons. |
