HISTORICAL OVERVIEW: The Bibbiti were first encountered by the USS Terra Nova in December of 2377 during an attempt to rescue a distressed ship. Two Bibbiti individuals took refuge on the Terra Nova, running from another race known as the Caepaens. They asked for protection and now currently reside at Liberty station in the Ryalli Sector. RACIAL DESCRIPTION: The Bibbiti are a non-humanoid race that apparently developed on an oceanic world. It is believed they evolved on a nitrogen rich world. They are unable to survive in normal class M atmospheres as the air they breathe has a high nitrogen content their bodies rely on.  Bearing three legs and arms with 'hands' that can split into numerous prehensile 'fingers.' Their ability to move or walk is unknown. No Bibbiti has been seen up close. CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS: Initial encounters with the Bibbiti suggest the race is somewhat xenophobic and reclusive. Though the apparently have space travel, they act uncomfortably among alien races. The Bibbiti appear to have a fear of other races knowing too much about them. They are reluctant to reveal anything about their race, even to the point of making initial use of the Universal Translator almost impossible. Based on initial encounters, it is believed that the Bibbiti prefer to use holographic avatars to speak with outsiders. This may also reflect their isolationist culture. The Bibbiti do not speak in generalities. It is their way to be both direct and succinct when they speak. When being asked questions, they believe it rude to give out information that is not directly asked of them. Not enough is known of the Bibbiti culture to ascertain why this is. GOVERNMENT: Nothing is currently known about Bibbiti government or social structure. TECHNOLOGY: The Bibbiti are assumed to have reached a fair level of technology. First encounters with the Bibbiti revealed they have extensive skill with computers, anti-gravity and holography. The Bibbiti avatar is a prime example of all three of these fields.  It is believed that the Bibbiti may have warp capability. The only Bibbiti craft that has been seen to date was an escape pod that presumably came from a larger craft. The pod was equipped with the aforementioned Avatar device, and used tentacle devices that extended from the hull to anchor itself. This design is a reflection of their own physiology. Nothing further is known about Bibbiti technology.
