| BACKGROUND |
|
||||||||||||||||||||
| 2347: Born on Sidosia Station in orbit of Syrenya. 2371: Graduates from Starfleet Academy. CHILDHOOD: Born in 2347 on Sidosia Station in orbit of Syrenya, an Orion colony world within Federation borders, Virian Nchabe's first glimpse of the universe as he entered it was a view of his home planet from space. His parents, both sword-and-pistol merchant venturers, had indulged in privateer work for the Klingon government during various wars including the failed Duras family coup. During peacetime, they would employ their vessel in long-distance trade missions for private contractors, which imbued Virian with a high level of cultural exposure from an early age. He was trilingual by age seven, and manned his first helm station at nine. EDUCATION: At age twenty, Nchabe respectfully turned down the prospect of one day commanding his own civilian brigantine for a career in Starfleet. Travelling to Earth in 2367, he enrolled in the Academy with a major in Warp Navigation and a minor in Computer Science. His first cadet cruise aboard the Cheyenne class U.S.S. Mariner went well and, following graduation, he requested an assignment aboard that vessel under the command of Captain Josiah Horner. STARFLEET SERVICE: From 2371 to 2374, Mariner undertook a three-year mission of exploration into the Beta Quadrant. During that time, Ensign Nchabe participated in several first-contact ceremonies and earned a reputation for calmness during a firefight when he and his commanding officer were repeatedly placed in hostile situations. Captain Horner recommended the young Orion for promotion at the end of the cruise, and he was offered the position of Chief Helm Officer aboard the New Orleans-class U.S.S. Maharashtra–which he accepted, as the Mariner was preparing for several months of refitting in preparation for expected fleet actions against the Dominion. Under the command of Captain Maxwell Plessinger, Maharashtra took heavy casualties during the few hellish months of the Dominion conflict. The vessel was relegated to policing duties along the new Cardassian border after the armistice and, early in 2177, was dispatched to Psi 1 Draconis to quell an uprising by Cardassian colonists then living under Federation jurisdiction due to treaty law. Although the exact details of that mission have yet to be declassified, it is known that a mutiny occurred and Lieutenant Nchabe, along with the ship's executive officer and most of the crew, removed Captain Plessinger from command. The Maharashtra returned to spacedock shortly thereafter, and a formal hearing alleviated the mutineers of any criminal offense, rewarding each the Star Cross for service to the Federation. Following the Maharashtra incident, Virian requested and was granted several months in which to return to the Academy for special training in First Contact situations. As soon as he had received his certification as a diplomatic officer, he requested another deep-space assignment and was posted to the U.S.S. Terra Nova with the dual position of Chief of Operations and Diplomacy Officer. Following a short tour of duty, he requested a planetary posting, and was transferred to the operations department on Liberty Station. Shortly after that he was assigned to the USS Thunderbird as Chief Operations Officer. - - |

| PERSONALITY PROFILE |
|
||||||||||||||||||||
| Psychological
evaluations show Virian to be an extremely stable officer who manages to
inspire trust in those around him. Nearly all of his life has been spent aboard
starships of one type or another, and he tends to know the workings of most
ship systems 'inside and out'. This, coupled with his reputation for composure,
should make him particularly well-suited for command. Perversely, and quite to the contrary of his psych profile, Lieutenant Nchabe has shown an alarming tendency to ignore orders given to him by a superior. Some interviewees have commented that he often behaves more like a mercenary than a Starfleet officer, and potential commanders should bear in mind that, although his actions aboard the Maharashtra were deemed justified, he has mutinied before and may do so again. - - |

| PHYSICAL PROFILE |
|
||||||||||||||||||||
|
Tall and thin, Virian keeps himself as fit as is required of Starfleet
personnel by indulging in the pastime of saber fencing; however, he considers
physical fitness very low in priority compared to the other demands of an
officer. Like all Green Orions, he posseses a bright green pigmentation that
results from high concentrations of copper in his epidermis; his eye color
is black opal, and his hair is deep pine.

| SPECIAL NOTES |
|
||||||||||||||||||||
| Lieutenant Nchabe prefers to wear
the Officer's Frock Coat rather than the standard duty uniform and, whenever
possible, will carry Klingon disruptor weapons instead of phasers. He speaks
Federation Standard with a faint Slavic drawl that has diminished greatly
throughout his years in Starfleet. FAMILY RECORD: unknown: -- Father -- Private Merchant Contractor unknown: -- Mother -- Private Merchant Contractor -
