BACKGROUND
2341: Born in North Dakota on Earth.
2377: Timothy Kursk, a marine, graduates from the Starfleet Academy Marine Retraining Program.

CHILDHOOD:
Timothy Kursk was born in North Dakota, on Earth in 2341. His family was torn apart when his father was found to be having an affair. The years that followed created a hateful relationship between his father and his mother, ultimately one of the large factors that compelled Kursk to join the Marines.

EDUCATION:
In 2359, at the age of 18, Timothy joined the United Federation Marine Corps. He chose to go into the field of marine assault vehicles. Because of the age old traditions of the marines, he had to be an officer first...

He graduated from Marine Officer School three years later as a Second Lieutenant. He then trained as a pilot. It was mandatory for him to know how to service his craft. The engineering section took six months to complete, certifying him as an engineer's assistant. He spent the next two years training with various units as an assault pilot.

STARFLEET SERVICE:
Four years later the Dominion war came around. Shortly after the destruction of the Fifth fleet by the Dominion an exchange program was started between Starfleet and the Marine Corps. Starfleet had quickly become short of pilots with fighter experience. The Marine Corps transferred worthy pilots to Starfleet. They were then assigned to fly Kaneda Space Superiority fighters (attached to Akira class ships). First Lieutenant Kursk, recently promoted, was one of the pilots temporarily assigned to fly the Kaneda's. His Fighter group (mostly marine transfers) were stationed in the USS Zeus (2374, Akira class).

The USS Zeus was apart of the Seventh fleet, and saw much combat. Kursk and the remaining pilots of his unit received a unit citation after their actions during the battle of Cardassia Prime. The record says: On the twelfth of December 2374 this Meritorious Unit Citation is being given to the 12th squadron of the 36th marine wing for their meritorious acts during the Battle of Cardassia Prime. . .    . . .Let the record note that the foremost of these hero’s are the only one’s serving today.

These remaining six officers, after the destruction of their squadron continued to do their duty. They were called off the line because their small numbers rendered them almost useless against larger ships. But for Marine Captain Kursk, Star Fleet Lieutenant Mrinez, Marine First Lieutenant Kormal, Marine Second Lieutenant Jasperson, Starfleet Ensign N’kounge, and Marine Second Lieutenant Polora, their job had just begun. As they continued to monitor the battle they saw the USS Lomax break from the fleet wide formation. She was heavily damaged, but had managed to get out of the hottest part of the fighting. As she drifted away from the battle that had ravaged her so severely, trailing debris, a Jem’hadar attack ship engaged her. She was helpless.

It was at this point that the three remaining ships of the 12th squadron (under the command of Marine captain Timothy Kursk) jumped into action. It was a daring attempt to force the Jem’hadar attack ship to leave. With most of their micro torpedo’s depleted one would doubt that they could be successful. But the daring actions of these six men forced the Jem’hadar Attack Ship to disengage with the Lomax and retreat.

Through the next 8 hours these Officers continued to guard their disabled comrade the USS Lomax until other assistance could arrive....

Some time after the Dominion War ended Kursk decided to leave the Marines. He transferred to Starfleet (2375) where he took further classes at the Academy to certify him as a Starfleet engineer’s assistant and as a helmsman.

After his additional training he was assigned to the USS Germany (2377, Intrepid). He served there for some time as helmsmen and pilot. After the USS Germany he was assigned to the USS Thunderbird, where he served as helm officer in the Navigations department.

In 2378, after the USS Terra Nova and USS Thunderbird returned to Liberty Station in orbit of Gideon IV, Kursk was requested aboard the USS Terra Nova to serve as Chief Security/ Tactical Officer. With a promotion of full Lieutenant, he was reassigned to the Security Department. Shortly thereafter, and citing his service record, Kursk was transferred back to the refit USS Thunderbird as chief Tactical Officer. He continues to serve there to the present day.

PERSONALITY PROFILE
A friendly officer, Timothy Kursk has always enjoyed a good working relationship with the officers and enlisted men that he serves with. He is known as a very honor and duty bound person, but he has been known to be blunt when push came to shove. He has a hot temper but can control it, for the most part at least.
-
-
PHYSICAL PROFILE
Timothy is about 5' 8" tall, weighs about 190 lbs. He wears his dark brown hair in short military cut, practical. A passerby might say that Kursk is a semi muscular guy, but his many years of marine life has honed his body into a well tuned, very fit machine. His dull gray eyes are undescript, perfectly matching his gruff, but clean shaven face.
