| Date of Birth: January 17, 2346, Place of Birth: City of Zamadi, Western District, Betazed Parents: Father - Pexal Revos, Physician; Mother - Aloran Revos, Federation Council Member Siblings: None on Record Children: None on Record Samuel Jaden Revos, Heir of the Seventh House of Betazed, Holder of the Sword of Trolan, known to his friends and collegues as Sam, has been quoted as saying he finds his Betezoid mental and empathic capabilities as a curse. He often maintains a personal distance from those he considers friends, and does not attend social functions unless he is required too. He finds planet-bound life sometimes difficult to deal with as well. Though trained to supress these empathic abilties, he claims he still senses feeling, and that makes him uncomfortable at times. He also sometimes suffers from Insomnia, especially when he is forced to dwell for longer periods of time in an area with a population larger than a few hundred, or when the small group of people he is around are nervous, tense, et cetera. He finds his family home on the shores of Lake Zamadi, in the western distict of the city of Zamadi, east of the Trolan Mountains, to be the most soothing place in the galaxy. This Insomnia can also occur even on a vessel of less than 50 people, but is rare. This is one reason Sam was not accepted into the phychological sciences. Strangely Samuel considers himself an outcast from Betazoid society, despite the fact there are only a few instances of prejudice, all stemming from his peers during adolescence. Some have rumored that his outcast status is all in his head. Perhaps Samuel struggles at times with a somewhat low esteem in these regards becasue of this? Sam's empathic abilitites are above-average, though more common-place in Betazoid society. They allow him to sense emotions with a high-degree of acuracy. He's able to tell the difference between various similar emotions, such as the difference between anger and frustration. His telepathic skills are limited, however, in that he can communicate telepathically with other telepathic races, but requires tactile contact to have any form of telepathic contact with a non-telepathic species. For these species (such as Human, Vulcan, and Bajoran, etc), he can then only read the surface thought -- unlike a Vulcan Mind Meld which allows deep, probing telepathic contact. This form of tactile telepathy is draining on Sam though, and rarely used. To avoid accidental passing-contact, he wears black leather gloves. What is unique about Sam's Betazoid mental abilities is that he also maintains a very rough form of Telekenesis. While a truely telekenetic being could aptly manipulate objects or persons, Sam can only roughly do so, his abilitites being considerably rudementary. This rough form manifests itself as a quick, blunt movement, similar to a telekenetic punch or kick. While the Federation has only encountered 16 races capable of Telekenesis (excluding the minimal percentage of Betazoids), they all demonstrated the ability to aptly manipulate objects and people with presiscion, and acuracy. The use of his telekenetic abilitites is extremely draining on him, and had previously forced him into a comatose-state when over-used during training at the Zestran Institute. Sam's telekenetic capabilities do allow him to avert certain dangerous situations. During his first year as an Ensign, Sam averted two cargo containers that fell from a higher level. This action was rudamentary for a Telekenetic, however, was adequete to save two fellow officers from physical harm. Unfortuantely, Sam did leave the incident with a splitting headache. Sam is in many ways, a stable - if not socially under-developed - individual, though his tendencies towards personal distance and difficulty in large groups does present possible problems. He, however, struggles to fight this on a regular basis. When he left the Zestran Institute for Starfleet Academy, he choose the name Samuel as his own, after his father's mentor and friend, Doctor Samuel McCarthy. He refuses to explain this choice; however the name is legal. In late April 2378, shortly after being assigned to the USS Terra Nova, Revos resigned his commission in Starfleet, for personal reasons, and much to the surprise of his collegues. He currently lives as a civilian on Betazed, near his ailing mother. He no longer maintains a career in Starfleet. - |

| Paints to relax.
Not very vocal. Only way to combat Insomnia is to listen to recorded sounds
of the shores of Lake Zamadi, upon which his Family Home is located, East
of the Trolan Mountain Range. Drinks mostly water. Very scientific in his
beliefs, though not much of a scientist. Does not believe in any religions,
Betazed or other. Does not care much about his anchient blood-line, though
he does find it ironic he is a Son of the 7th house -- the house of Courage
-- and a Security Officer. Though roughly one-half of Federation Citizens
have chosen the vegatarian life-style, Sam is very much opposed to it. Ironically,
he also can't stand ignorant, nervous, or inexperienced people.
