| BACKGROUND |

||||||||||||||||||||
| 2335: Born in Montana on Earth. 2342: Ronald's family moves to San Francisco, CA. 2357: By age 22, he has already earned a Masters Degree. 2361: Graduates from Starfleet Academy. 2369: Attacked by a Razorfin shark while surfing on Argus IV. CHILDHOOD: Born in 2335 on the North American continent of Earth, in the area of northern Montana, Aswar had always had an appreciation for nature. By the time of his seventh birthday he had turned over every stone, explored every cave, and swam in every stream in his boyhood home. But his father, a minor diplomat was finally recalled to active service after a hiatus following a shuttle accident a few years prior. It was then that Aswar moved to the region of Southern California and discovered what is now his favorite hobby and pasttime, surfing. EDUCATION: Living in the area, and having a home in San Fransico, Aswar was witness to many Starfleet officers. Perhaps it was the uniforms, or maybe all of the attractive young officers... but something perked his interest. What became an interest based merely on infatuation turned into a successful career. Having studied passionately his entire life he had been accepted into college at age 16, by age 20 he had a degree in Microbiology, and by age 22 he had a Masters. He was accepted into a Doctorial program but declined, instead choosing a career with Starfleet. Aswar excelled in his courses at the Academy, taking on each new course with a vigor unseen in most cadets. It earned him the notice of a few of the Academy's more notable graduates. In this fourth year he was given a brevet-promotion to the rank of Ensign while serving aboard the USS Seabring for "gallant actions" on an away mission where the crew was assaulted by a group of Nausicans and Aswar saved the life of the senior officer of the mission. STARFLEET SERVICE: The brevet lasted into a full promotion a few months later and Aswar was given the opportunity to return to the Academy to graduate with his class, then receiving a second promotion to the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade) and given the posistion of Deputy Chief Science Officer aboard the Seabring. That continued for two years before he was promoted to full Lieutenant and transfered to the USS Gallant to serve as the ship's Chief Science Officer. That posistion continued until Aswar was temporarily transfered to Starfleet Command to work in a first-contact situation with one of the first alien Gamma quadrant encounters. The assignment lasted long enough for Aswar to be promoted to Lieutenant Commander and take the Bridge Officer's Test, which he passed with exemplary marks. He was re-assigned to the Deep Space 3 to serve as Scientific Advisor to Starfleet Diplomatic Corps and fill the vacant posistion of the stations second officer. During this tour he was able to vacation on the nearby planet of Argus IV where he was attacked by a Razorfin shark while surfing. Fortunately he was able to deck the shark hard enough and made it to shore where he was immediately taken to a nearby medical facility. He was off-duty for two weeks but made a full recovery. He still bares the scar, it is sort of a close, personal joke he shares with his friends about how the sharp just "didn't like the taste of him". A story he will jovially recount after many glasses of Romulan Ale. After a year in the position, he requested transfer to a non-staff posistion, preferably aboard a starship. His wish was granted and he was given the posistion of Chief Science Officer and Second Officer aboard the USS Erewhon. He continued in that posistion until the First Officer was killed in a narmed conflict with Jem-Hadar shock troops. Following the death of the Erewhon's XO, papers were drawn and sent from Starfleet Command giving Lieutenant Commander Ronald Aswar a field promotion to the rank of Commander. For the duration of the Dominion War he acted as the Executive Officer of the Erewhon under Captain Anton Dewitt. It seemed the war was coming towards its end and the Erewhon was given orders to patrol the Cardassian boarder. While on patrol the Erewhon was attacked by two Galor-class Cardassian cruisers. During the conflict Captain Dewitt was killed and Aswar was forced to assume command. The battle lasted for over an hour and ended when the USS Okaro came to the Erewhon's aide. For the duration of the war Aswar was Acting-Captain of the USS Erewhon until he was reassigned to Starfleet Intelligence for a brief stint. Six months later Captain Ronald Aswar was given command of the Nova-class USS Hawaii and given orders to proceed to the Ryalli Sector where he has been stationed ever since. Aswar is a scientist first, and a warrior second. He is a proven tactician, a cunning strategist, but an even more successful explorer. Thus far he has proven so in the distant Ryalli Sector. - - |
