EDUCATION:
After he was done with his primary schooling he went on to the Andorian Combat School. He wanted to get involved with Military, and get in the action. He ended up completing that preparation school with ease. He really didn't want to join Starfleet, seeing as there were only a couple dozen other fellow Andorians in all of Starfleet, but his parents, and military counselor, advised him, that "if he wanted action", that was the best way to get it.

So, Mike Joined the Academy, majoring in Tactical, and Command. He finished 3rd in his class, and decided to join Starfleet's cultural exchange program. He chose this route because he loved Klingon culture, and wanted to learn their combat styles. While there, he learned Klingon rituals as well as  their Language. He is, for the most part, fluent in Klingonese.

STARFLEET SERVICE:
Following his years in culture enrichment, tensions were rising all across the known Alpha Quadrant. The talk was of Romulans, Cardasians, Borg, and Starfleet's newest enemy - the Dominion. Considering the current political nature of the Federation, Advanced Tactical Training in Federation techniques seemed the best route to take.

He spent eight years serving onboard the USS Nebula and the USS Nobaris, staying relatively in the background in terms of recognition. Not much happened during these eight years. He spent his time pursuing his duties and doing what was asked of him.

By 2373, it was almost full scale war with the Dominion. Not long later, he was assigned to one of the front line ships, and had to fly by the seat of his pants learning to adapt to wartime conditions while almost in constant combat. Truly that was his best experience. He was promoted twice from Ensign to Lt. j.g. and then to Full Lt. He was also caught in one of the last waves of dominion attacks, and for several hours in one attack he was crushed under a bulkhead. He was in critical condition for a while, but managed to make it out alive. Starfleet gave him a medal, for his courage throughout the war, and his overall help with the war effort. 

In 2377, while serving still aboard the USS Maximus, he recieved a sudden change in assignment. Apparently, the small Exploration vessel, the USS Terra Nova, needed a new second officer after the former occupant of that post was unexpectedly murdered while on shoreleave. Though, the reassignment decision was rather sudden, Starfleet chose him for the position because they felt that Mike needed a more relaxing post, a cool down, to get back into the swing of peace time. So he was reassigned as Chief Tactical/Secuirty Officer on the Terra Nova, and assumed the position of 2nd officer. Shortly after his reassignment, he was promoted to the rank of Lt. Commander.

In 2377, while the Terra Nova was on a mission to the distant Ryalli Expanse, Lt.Cmdr. Ryanax was unfortunately injected by nanoprobes from a manifested Borg drone. Though he helped three of his crewmates escape the Borg manifestations, he himself was subjected to the early stages of assimilation. Doctor Ethain was able to get him to sickbay, but his efforts to rid Ryanax's body of the nanoprobes failed, and the Lt.Cmdr. died from massive internal organ failure. His body was sent home to Andor for a proper Starfleet burial.

Mike was given such an un-Andorian-like first name in honor of a deceased human friend of his father. He is one of the only known Andorians to have such a Human name - an honor, in Mike's mind.
