| 2350: Born on the New Estonia Colony. 2374: Graduates from Starfleet Academy. 2376: Graduates from Command School. CHILDHOOD: Kalev was born on the New Estonia Colony, located near the Klingon Border. The planet’s habitat was very similar to that of Scandinavia, on Earth, which is what attracted the Estonian settlers to it. He comes from a space-faring family. Kalev is the youngest of the family and has three siblings. His family all had a part in Kalev’s eventual career choice to join Starfleet, and between all of them, taught him skills which would serve him well in Starfleet. When he wasn't helping with the family shipping business (RTS -- Remont Transport and Shipping, a modest company with 12 vessels, serving mainly the Alpha Quadrant and Klingon space), (mostly on the bridge and also engineering) he would go into the forests of New Estonia, often with Klingon hunting parties, who found the game on the planet particularly challenging to hunt. As a result, he took an interest in Klingons. EDUCATION: An older Klingon living on the planet, Kerla, took Kalev under his wing and taught him the Klingon language, culture, and customs. In return, Kalev related his Estonian background to the Klingon, and the two became good friends. Kerla, a man of cultural interests, was particularly interested in the story of Kalevipoeg, the folk hero of Estonia. After the death of Kalev's own father, not long later, Kerla bacame like a second father to the young Estonian. Since space has always been a major part of his life, Kalev decided to join Starfleet. His experience aboard his family's ships and his intelligence easily gets him into the Academy. While studying there, he choose the Operations field as it was a blend of things he enjoyed working with his family. He did well in his studies, but not without a lot of a hard work and effort. Because of his Klingon “education”, Kalev also took part in martial arts at the Academy and did quite well in school competitions. He also took an interest in hockey while there, playing goal tender for the senior team. STARFLEET SERVICE: After his Academy graduation, Kalev’s hard work led him to Command School. He did well, but not quite well enough to graduate as a full lieutenant, and upon graduation here, was assigned to the USS Lincoln, a Nebula Class vessel on deep space duty. In 2377, after a year serving ( with good marks) onboard the USS Lincoln, he was transferred to Liberty Station in the Ryalli Sector. His service was within the Operations Department. In late May, 2378, Kalev accepted a transfer aboard the USS Terra Nova. Five months later he was promoted into the First Officer position with a rise in rank to full lieutenant. He currently serves onboard the small defiant class vessel as both First Officer and Chief Operations Officer. - |

| Generally, Kalev is a good guy. He can be a little hyperactive,
stemming from ADHD, and talkative, but he uses Klingon Mok-Bar and martial
arts to help calm himself down and focus. His "Klingon" education from Kerla
has instilled a strong sense of honour and duty, and he does not take such
things lightly. However, he is prone to impulsivity, which has lead to
a few problems, but nothing that has (so-far) seriously hurt his career. - - |
