| BACKGROUND |

| June 1, 2335: Born on Starbase 23. 2356: Graduated from Starfleet Academy. 2378: Court-martialled for the events during command of the USS Thunderbird. Charges dropped. Dr. William Fowler, Starfleet Medical, compiled the following summary from official records, including efficiency reports, comments by commanding officers, and psychological examinations: Social: Personal History: At age 17, he applied for admission to Starfleet Academy and was accepted on the first round. As a Cadet, he isolated from his fellow Cadets and the general social climate of the Academy. At this point, his personality profile was known, and his tendency to isolate predictable. He was an aggressive student and was always near the top of his class. There were some minor conflicts with other Cadets, as will happen, but none were serious enough to warrant any concern. His education at the Academy continued through to successful completion of Command School. After his first assignment as a Science Officer, he applied to the Vulcan Academy of Science. Upon acceptance, he was granted a leave of absence and completed his studies on Vulcan with a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and Engineering. While on Vulcan, he met his future wife, a Vulcan Starfleet officer. The marriage ended for all practical purposes about a year ago, and as noted above, Vulcan Law granted legal separation. He is reluctant to discuss the separation with anyone. Subsequent psychological examination revealed nothing that would prevent him from continuing his career, only a profound sadness that he eventually recovered from. In the professional environment, Greer prizes competence in others above all else, regardless of rank and position. It is well known that he has absolutely no tolerance for anyone in uniform with a political agenda. He has, on several occasions, bordered on insubordination. It is remarkable that the same officers that unofficially complained of this insolence gave him the best efficiency reports. This attitude has predictably resulted in career problems, including being passed over once for promotion to Lt. Cmdr. He was subsequently promoted, and the record of the denial of promotion was sealed by Starfleet. He is well liked by his subordinates, in spite of pushing
them to their limit. He was awarded two decorations for combat and
one for service. He appears to be almost embarrassed by these awards,
and will not discuss them. In April 2378, following a hearing into possible court-martial
events, Greer was cleared of all charges, and reassigned to Liberty Station.
He presently serves as the Federation's Chief Technology Intelligence Officer
in the Ryalli Sector. |
