BACKGROUND
2343: Born to Robert and Suzanne Billings near Boston, Earth.
2365: Graduates from Starfleet Academy.
2378: A head injury gives him partial permanent memory loss.

CHILDHOOD:
Gregory was born in 2343 to a Star Fleet captain and his professor wife. He spent his childhood growing up in and around Boston, Earth. The second oldest of four siblings, Gregory's childhood was one of nurturing and support by a closely-knit family.

When he was three years old, his father, who most of the time had been serving as the first officer of a Starfleet vessel, was offered a teaching position at StarFleet Academy. This he jumped at to be closer to his family. Gregory's mother taught as a professor at a local private liberal arts college.

As Gregory was growing up, he developed an interest in space and dreamed of someday piloting a Federation starship and exploring space. He loved building models and over his older childhood, he started to gain a collection of small StarFleet ship models. Once in highschool, his growing collection garnered a lot of attention from his teachers and friends. At one point, he even won an award or two in a number of notable model-building competitions. He cherishes these awards to this day.

EDUCATION:
In his final year of his highschool studies, he was introduced to holo-modeling and later scematic modeling in some advanced classes. He took to these new interests very rapidly and with great ardor, and by graduation, those that knew him were encouraging him to follow his dream to fly in space. They hoped his budding interests in Starship design would lead him to a position in the Engineering sciences, however, Gregory's dream to pilot a startship won out.

In 2361, he applied and was accepted to Starfleet Academy. He instantly took to his studies and dedicated himself to learning the science of navigations. He still persued his interest in model-building, but was limited to what he could do as his studies began to demand more of his time. To his parents delight, Gregory did well, and four years later, graduated in the upper 25% of his class.

STARFLEET SERVICE:
In 2365, he was assigned as a navigations officer to the Nebula Class USS Nebula. He served with distinction due his rank and three years later was transferred to the small USS Wilson to fill a need in navigations. Along with the transfer, he was promoted from Ensign to Lt.(jg), and nearly two years later, Lt. due to outstanding service on the Wilson.

In 2370, the Nebula class, USS Covington, suffered crippling damage and lost nearly all her crew. She was salvaged, towed to the nearest Starbase, and repaired over the next few months. When the time came to restaff the Covington, Gregory was requested for the postion of Chief Conn Officer. He accepted, and served the next three years onboard on a mission of exploration.

In 2373, Gregory's services were requested aboard the newly commissioned USS Somali, an Intrepid Class vessel. This time, he was to serve as First Officer. He accepted once again, thrilled at the opportunities presented him. Unfortunately, his service on the Somali was one of a more militaristic nature - the Dominion War. He served to the best of his ability, but found the loss of friends to be a drain on his emotions. At one point he came within a hair's width of resignation, but thanks to a dear friend, was encouraged to "follow his destiny".

Gregory remained in Starfleet, and flowing the end of the war and a few months leave, was given command of the new USS Terra Nova. He has vowed to serve with no less distinction than in his past. He still treasures that dream he had from youth to pilot a Federation starship, only now, perhaps that "destiny" has even more meaning.

In April 2378, upon being thrown free from the Ryalli Expanse, Captain Billings was injured on the bridge of the USS Terra Nova, and fell into a coma for some time. Upon awakening, his medical condition did not warrent a return to his shipboard Command Duties. Instead, he was allowed to keep his Captain rank, but was transferred to an office job on Liberty Station where he currently serves as the Fleet Administrator for all Federation starships in the Ryalli Sector.

PERSONALITY PROFILE
Captain Billings is a man with a desire to explore the unknown. He is also stong on abiding by policy as he does so. Now that he has command of his own ship he feels a stronger sense of duty in what he does, and hopes to instill both that love of the unknown and his dedication to duty in those receptive and serving under him.

His good natured personality is a welcome trait to his subordinates, and he does not have trouble making new friends. Sometimes, however some have commented on how dedicated he is to duty, but in the end, it is his keen sense for organization that has helped him through a good deal of trials. Generally unknown to most, though, there are times that seem to defy his dedication to duty, when a somwhat "unorthodox" strategy has saved him as well, but usually, duty has dictated his decisions. As a captain now, however, he has begun to learn and settle more easily into understanding his capabilites. He does, however continue to treasure the learning process, and is eager to serve Starfleet in his new capacity.

He is a religious man, who values prayer quite highly.
