The USS Terra Nova is a 5th year play-by-email sim set in the year 2378 (October), three years after the conclusion of the Dominion War. The setting is onboard a Defiant Class starship in the far reaches of space. The environment follows The 'real' Star Trek universe as created in the many television series and follow-up motion pictures.

The Terra Nova's primary mission is scouting/exploration. She also provides occassional defensive muscle as needed. She is one of a number of new Defiant Class starships converted to other primary uses following the Dominion War.

Her current assignment is to the borders of unexplored Space -- particularly the distant area known as the Ryalli Sector. Her orders are to 'seek out new life and new civilizations' and to map unknown space. Her primary base of operations is the lone Liberty Station -- the crashed saucer section of the Galaxy Class, USS Liberty. Her crew? You.
